Thank You to All Who Attended the St. Joseph Public Library Job Fair!

WorkOne Northern Indiana would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who attended the St. Joseph Public Library Job Fair on September 12, 2024. We are very grateful for everyone’s help before, during, and after the event.

"Employers and Jobseekers during the South Bend Job Fair"

With 33 employers representing a wide range of industries, we were thrilled to see such a strong turnout of job seekers and local organizations coming together. It was inspiring to witness so many connections made with job seekers to find meaningful employment.

Before the job fair began, Dan McMillion was able to speak with JAG Students from Goshen Highschool about how he coordinates the events. This was a wonderful request from the In-School Youth JAG Specialist Laura Brown. The students were able to walk the floor and ask questions about how the employers utilize the job fair to find talent.

This opportunity assisted the students with their own projects - which is to create their own career fair based on the careers they research.

"In the project they will have a booth representing their career, have created information such as brochures for their career and be prepared to answer any questions that will be asked." Laura Brown explained when introducing the class to the employers.

It is fulfilling to hear that more than 225 job seekers navigated the room with open minds to explore the various opportunities. The rewarding factor for the St. Joseph County’s Business Services Representative, Dan McMillion, was that he received follow-ups from employers the next morning!

With excitement, McMillion proclaimed “A few companies have already set up interviews with candidates they met during the job fair. Kudos to the employers moving along the process for those who attended the event.”

Through our partners, the event accommodated a variety of backgrounds, including refugees who discovered the event through the United Religious Coalition. The disability resource coordinator of the Northern Indiana Workforce Board, Laura Navarro, mentioned that she was able to help those with limited-English proficiency find their way through the selection of employers.

“It’s fulfilling to know that they can see our organization as a resource with open arms – assisting all walks of life find employment opportunities.” Navarro proudly stated.

We truly appreciate your continued support and look forward to seeing you at future events! Stay connected with us for updates on more job fairs, workshops, and career-building opportunities in the Northern Indiana region.
