How WIOA Partners Are Shaping Workforce Services in Region 2!

"Leaders of the Outlet Youth Center presenting their community resources."

As the final stages of the Workforce Development Local Plan come together in region 2, WIOA partners met in July to discuss portions of the One Stop system.  The Local Plan, laid out by the Northern Indiana Workforce Board, Inc., drives how the American Job Center system will facilitate access to workforce services at the local level.  Services are available through the WorkOne centers and connect clients to programs, WIOA partners and other community organizations that provide supportive services.

The WIOA partner meetings provide a platform for agencies to collaborate on local and regional strategies to serve customers and provide the most relevant offerings to support the workforce system. Time is set aside for providers to get to know each other and the services offered in the region. Discussions often include evaluation of regional data, information sharing about regional economic growth projects, and collaboration on strategies to help overcome service gaps.

During the most recent meeting, hosted by the Outlet Youth Center, WIOA partners learned about how this great community organization is working to provide a safe space and job ready skills for youth in the community. The Fulton County Chamber Executive Director spoke on projects, services and events happening in Fulton County and presented future plans for job and industry growth in the county, offering the partners insight into how their services can support those future plans.

Following the presentations, the discussion of the local plan gave participants a chance to share their voice on what the local plan needs to include. Those ideas will be addressed over the next four years, once the plan is approved by the state.  Using the plan as a guide and evaluative tool, future meetings of the WIOA partners will center on the effectiveness of programs as laid out in the plan.

The next WIOA partner meeting is scheduled for October 16, 2024 in Elkhart.
