Senior Community Service Employment Program
SCSEP subsidizes employment for low-income and unemployed seniors (55+).
In conjunction with Senior Services of America Inc. (SSAI), SCSEP operates under The Northern Indiana Workforce Board (NIWB), is funded by federal grants and donations, and is monitored by The Department of Labor.
SCSEP is currently offered in St. Joseph, Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall, Noble and LaGrange counties.
How does SCSEP work?
For 20 hours per week, participants train on-site at local non-profits and governmental organizations that serve as steppingstone opportunities to help seniors learn new skills, gain valuable work experience, maintain their independence, and ultimately return to the workforce in a permanent, un-subsidized role that improves their quality of life.
The main components of the program include Paid Job Training, Meaningful Community Service, and General Skills Development
